The Journal is your community newspaper, focusing on the news that affects your daily life. To publish that news, we need to hear from you.
Submitting news to The Journal
Some basic guidelines for submitting news items:
Clearly state your information -- including, if applicable, title, date, time, place, cost and registration deadline for community events.
Include a phone number for publication with community and business news events. And for any type of news item, include the name and phone number of a contact person in case we need more information. Send your news as early as possible. Allow at least two weeks before publication. Photos are welcome, but we cannot guarantee that they will be used and we cannot return them.
Items for the Calendar of Events and Community Reports should be sent to the appropriate community correspondent (see below). For all other local items -- including business items, wedding and engagement announcements, "Names in the News" items, "In the Schools" items, church activities, and more -- send to: The Journal Newspapers, 6408 Edsall Road, Alexandria, Va., 22312.
The Calendar of Events appear every Thursday, and Community Reports appear every Wednesday. Send news items to the appropriate community correspondent and allow at least two weeks before the publication date.
